Mudgee Region

The traditional Wiradjuri meaning of Mudgee is ‘nest in the hills’; a fitting description of the picturesque landing at Mudgee Airport.

Once on the ground, there are outstanding tourist delights, investment opportunities and lifestyle attractions on offer. Add to this a four season climate, picturesque scenery, fine wine and locally grown food produce and a real community with heart and soul; and it’s not hard to understand the pride locals have in their region.

One of the state’s fastest growing areas, the Mudgee region is a gateway to the Central West and Far West regions of New South Wales.

Out-of-towners are attracted to jobs and business opportunities in a number of industries including agriculture, viticulture, tourism and mining. Commercial, residential and retail diversity all make the Mudgee region an outstanding place to visit and an even better place to live.

Town centres in Gulgong, Kandos, Mudgee and Rylstone are alive with visitors and families enjoying open spaces, parks and sporting facilities. Local markets celebrate food, wine and artisan creativity; there are activities for the kids and entertainment for the whole family.

Mudgee Airport is just 5km from the Mudgee CBD, 30km to Gulgong, 55km to Rylstone and 62km to Kandos.
